Dolphin Square: no longer open for trade

            It seems that the shutters have finally come down on Weston-super-Mare's Dolphin Square.  This was a centrally-located complex that comprised housing, an indoor market, ten pin bowling, an eclectic mix of shops and a public open space.  The area suffered from bomb damage during WWII, and its redevelopment was reputedly planned by the architect Clough Williams Ellis of Portmeirion fame.  Dolphin Square was the result: although considered an eyesore by many, the faded post-war optimism of its design appealed to me.  Now the entire site is boarded up so demolition must be imminent.
