Flickriver

            . . . but enjoyable rivulets of perspiration rather than the diaphoresis of hard labour! "He's lost the plot" I hear you mutter, but wait, let me explain!

Today flickr informs me that this is my 1000th photograph in my photostream. Now your information about me may be telling you otherwise; I have 954 public photos and the remainder are either friends, family or private viewing, the latter of which are images which have all been public at some time but currently hiding for various reasons which I won't go into today!

It's been an interesting journey to reach this milestone. I'm not sure exactly why I joined flickr, indeed, this photostream is my second attempt having abandoned one a year or two previously. Along the way I have come across many interesting and varied photographers, some of whom have become friends as well. 

Way, way at the bottom of my contacts, actually my very first contact, is a certain Wiffsmiff. You all know him, or have heard of him, or seen his photographs. Well, I blame him really for my obsession with the seaside and my subsequent love of the flowing, milky water style of image. I well remember the challenge, a dual at dawn, when we met at Dunraven Bay for the first time for a photographic shoot-out! Thanks my friend, it's great having you as a photographic companion over the past couple of years!

I had hoped for my 1000th to show you a stunning waterfall, or a glowing sunset, but the sky has not been too kind over the last few days. Instead I decided to do a self portrait but after processing felt it was too bizarre and weird even by my standards so abandoned the idea. So that left me with this though; it's not even taken with one of my beloved wide angle lenses in the style for which I have become known, but with the 24-70mm recently acquired.

This is part of an inscription which says "It was so hot, the sweat ran out of our shoes" which can be found at the National Trust owned Aberdulais Falls and is set into the paving. As luck would have it, building work had been going on in the vicinity and there was a red plastic watering can, full of water of which I made convenient use.

OK, that's far too much from me, time to get on with thinking about the next 1000; see you on my journey!
