Dans une 🌾friche 🌾, ce séneçon jacobée capte la dernière lumière avant la nuit, rappelant le rôle crucial de ces milieux pionniers. Riches en fleurs nectarifères, les friches sont des réservoirs de biodiversité, attirant une multitude d'insectes pollinisateurs, prédateurs et parasitoïdes qui régulent les populations d'espèces. Le séneçon jacobée (Jacobaea vulgaris) est une plante hôte pour la chenille de la goutte-de-sang (Tyria jacobaeae), un papillon qui en fait un usage exclusif, contribuant au contrôle naturel de cette plante parfois invasive.
J’ai saisi cette image à contre-jour, en m’abaissant dans l’herbe pour isoler le sujet sur le disque flou du soleil couchant.

In a 🌾wasteland🌾, this ragwort catches the last light before nightfall, reminding us of the vital role of these early-successional habitats. Rich in nectar-bearing flowers, wastelands are biodiversity hotspots, attracting a wide range of pollinators, predators and parasitoids that regulate species populations. Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris) is the exclusive host plant of the cinnabar moth (Tyria jacobaeae), which plays a key role in keeping this sometimes invasive species in check.
I captured this shot backlit, crouching low in the grass to isolate the subject against the blurred disc of the setting sun.
