Lane Tech High School senior button 1973

            Senior buttons allowed seniors to roam the halls without a hall pass, for about the last 30 days of the school year.  Considering that the place had a hallguard at every stairwell on every floor, and campus guards outside, this really was a big deal.

I would hope that for the senior button in 1974, it said First Co-ed Class.  But I have seen a pic of the 1974 button and it says nothing of its historical importance.

Back then, and perhaps to this day, low-numbered buttons such as 1, 2, 3 etc. went to the class officers.  Then, the low numbers were assigned to the Divisions, according to how fast everyone in that Division paid their graduation fee.  Based upon my number, my Division moved at the speed of glacial movement.

I collect things from Lane Tech, and am still looking for a sweater, jacket, patch used by the ROTC, pins, rings, etc. If you have anything available, let me know.
