            The Danish town Tønder was a part of Germany during the first world war. 
The flat terrain in Southern Jutland was ideal for the German airships and therefore Tønder (or Tondern as it is called in German) became the home town for a base for the Zeppelin airships.

The giant hangars were broken down after the war and the area turned into an exercise ground for the Danish military. 

In recent year local enthusiasts have found many remains from the airships and made a small museum on the ground.

The museum also covers the first world war in general as well as the second world war and the role Tønder has played for the Danish military.

There are many interesting items at the museum. This series is just a small taste of what awaits visitors.

Please note that the museum is closed in the autumn and winter and that they only accept cash payment form visitors.
