            Du 11° au 13° siècle, c'est la grande époque de Conques et de son Abbaye. Après les guerres de religion puis un incendie l'abbaye menaçait de s'effondrer dans l'indifférence générale. Son sauvetage et la restauration de l'église abbatiale est due à l'action de Prosper Mérimée. Cette magnifique église romane est une étape sur le Chemin de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.
