            Le portail royal de la Cathédrale de Chartres est une merveille de l'art Roman (1145-1170).
Chartres, capitale de la Beauce, véritable grenier de la France, possède un véritable trésor : sa Cathédrale gothique, célèbre pour ses vitraux et ses pèlerinages.
L'édifice actuel fut construit sur 25 ans à partir de 1194.
A l'intérieur, la grande nef mesure plus de 16m entre les piliers et dépasse en largeur la nef de toutes les autres cathédrales de France, cependant elle est à simple bas-cotés. La hauteur des voutes est de 37m.
La Cathédrale possède un ensemble incroyablement complet de 176 vitraux qui vont du 12e au 20e siècle.
