originally we were planning to fly from frankfurt to bergamo, and from there train it to lugano...but there were no viable connections at that time of night. so, we decided to grab a hotel room in milan instead, do a bit of sight-seeing in the morning, and then take a lunchtime train to lugano. turns out that the hotel we booked at the last minute was actually wonderful...a bit noisy, granted, but the decor and facilities were top notch.
