Nighttime at Woolco - December 1973 - Shot on Film

            I can't remember if this photo was taken on the same day as the previous photo, which was taken late enough in the day where you could see out the window. But the end counters are filled up here, so that's why I am a bit confused. It looks like boxes Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

And how do you like the price of the eight-pack of Pepsi? You can't even buy a single 16 ounce bottle for that price these days. But, hey, this was 50 years ago.

I think the store stayed open until 10:00 PM all the time, not just during the holidays. Of course, it got dark early as well.

We also sold batteries and flashcubes. Remember flashcubes?

I'm not sure if these guys were students. The Meridian Mall was in Okemos, which was a sort of suburb to East Lansing, so they could have been Michigan State students out during Christmas break.

This photo was taken with a Minolta SLR, using Kodak Ektachrome Tungsten film, rated at ASA 160. I used a Minolta 50mm lens. There was no filters used in front of the lens; I color corrected via Photoshop.
