The Naini railway bridge - a photo on Flickriver

            The Naini railway bridge at Allahabad was built in 1865 by the British to connect the major cites of Kolkata (then Calcutta) and Delhi. It was constructed after overcoming a lot of  challenges - engineering and otherwise. The bridge since then has been a lifeline for travel by train to Eastern India, especially due to its location where two of the most important rivers of the land that is known as Hindustan, meet along with an 'mystical' Saraswati. The bridge is a rail-road bridge with the railway bridge above and the road bridge below. Two other rail-road bridges that the British built were also on the Yamuna. They are at Agra (strachey bridge) and Delhi (from old Delhi railway station after crossing the Red Fort).
