Day 305 of 365-Pt.2: I see good things on the horizon

My reason for starting this second 365 had been very self serving. Events unfolding in my life at the time had been a little difficult to bare, and I really wasn’t dealing with them well. That is what had spawned the idea for a second 365. It wasn’t a task like the original had been. A mission or quest to, if nothing else just see if we could finish it. This time around was different. This time around I just needed something to keep my mind busy long enough to pull myself back together and get my brain working right again. Well over a year has passed since then, and I think I’m better now.
If feels like it has been a pretty good run, despite the problems and delays. But over the past few weeks I can not deny that my ambitions to further the project along have diminished rapidly. And that is why I’ve decided with a degree of reluctance, a reasonably heavy heart and admittedly even a hint of relief, I’m throwing in the towel. I'm calling it quits on this project.
It’s not so much that I’ve decided I don’t want to do it anymore. I just don’t need it anymore. The anxiety, the troubled thoughts, the depression, it has with time run it’s course, and the original purpose for the project as been achieved. I don’t feel like I need the distraction anymore. And you have to admit. It is a very effective and time consuming distraction.
Have my ambitions completely failed? Hardly. In fact I’m feeling more fired up then ever, and in a since it’s not so much that I’m abandoning this project because I’ve run out of ideas or enthusiasm, but rather I want to redirect that time, effort and energy into my new project. The graphic novel idea is still very much alive in my mind. I’ve actually very nearly completed the first draft of the script, and gone to work searching out a cast. Still no calls on the lead roll, anyone interested? It’s kind of funny when I finally sit down and begin to write. I was a little rusty out of the gate, and the first couple of attempts were pretty awkward. Starting out I’ll usually struggle for awhile trying to learn my characters, but at some point if I decide I like the basic premise and the folk I’ve thrown into it, the story has a habit of writing itself. It’s not going to end like I had thought it was going to. And that ain’t a bad thing. A twist I didn’t really even see coming. Of course it is only a first draft. Who knows how it will end come shooting time next spring.
So to you my friends, fellow 365’ers out there still plugging away, or anyone else who’s happened across my page I wish you the best. I’m sure I’ll be back around very soon.
