DS5_4698 - a photo on Flickriver

            Not a great pic, taken from very far away.  But I've been watching this Common Loon family all summer.  Started with two adults, then two adults and two chicks, then one chick was taken by a Bald Eagle (didn't see it happen, second hand info) then sometime between 8/20 and 8/27 one adult went missing.  Since 8/27 it just been the 1 adult and 1 chick seen here.  Almost no boats on this pond so when this one appeared the loons swam right toward it to check it out.  Nice job by the people for not moving and for holding on their dog as apposed to last year when two dogs jumped off a boat and chased the loons.
