NMBS 552 + 564 @ Beert - a photo on Flickriver

Door de aanwezigheid van het
maïsveld naast het spoor ging ik noodgedwongen op zoek naar een ander punt in de omgeving. De zon zou ook goed staan aan de voormalige overweg 13. Tijd om die omgeving eens te gaan verkennen.

Via het veld geraakte ik aan het talud naast het spoor en na het platstampen van de aanwezige netels - waarom was ik in korte broek onderweg, ah ja het was nog steeds boven 30 graden - stond ik klaar voor de IC die om 19u24 Halle zou verlaten op zijn weg van Brussels Airport Zaventem naar Doornik. Zoals meestal had deze trein zijn paar minuutjes vertraging - veroorzaakt door het feit dat deze verbinding telkens voor Halle wordt geremd door de er net voor rijdende S2 naar Braine le Comte.

In de week rijden er op deze verbinding vaak stammen M6 rijtuigen met 18 op kop (of aan de staart). In het weekend is de dienst echter vast in hand van de stellen van de reeks MS96. Zo was het ook niet echt verwonderlijk dat er twee stellen de bocht uitkwamen, de 552 op kop. Bemerk trouwens het speciale lettertype dat gebruikt werd bij het aanbrengen van de cijfers op de Deense neus.

Hierna ging ik terug naar huis voor een frisse douche. Het was een aangenaam bezoek aan lijn 94 en het zou niet de laatste Belgische lijn zijn die die maand op de planning stond.

And luckely for me, also the second passanger train that I photographed on the hot 9th of August 2020 had no graffiti.

One can see the IC from Brussels Airport Zaventem towards Tournai in Beert whilst approaching the former level crossing 13. In fact, here a this point, there were three level crossings at a distance of more or less 500 meter. The only one that survived until nowadays is level crossing 11 at the Grimmingestraat.
