Wet Shoes - _TNY_6802 - a photo on Flickriver

Working nights (printing newspapers) means I get home in the morning. During summer, this means I get to see a lot of sunrises. This particular day (back in 2015) I had borrowed my brothers Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM superzoom wth the intent of getting a shot or two of the common buzzards that like to sit on the fence next to the motorway in the mornings.

Right, so one day in September, both the timing and the light were just right so I parked the car, grabbed the camera and just had to cross this field to get to where I should be able to spot the buzzards.

Well, it turned out that a field like this in September is wet with dew. Lots and lots of very cold dew. before making it across, my sneakers were soaking wet and once I saw the birds - they immediately took off when I raised my camera.

So, no bird shots - and the same walk back to the car at which point I actually poured water from my sneakers before driving home to get in bed. Still a kind of fun memory and I think of that dew sometimes when I pass that spot on my way to work.
