            February fields and sunset in the Elfringhauser Schweiz region between the Wupper in the south and the Ruhr river in the north.

From my second short test outing with my new DJI Mavic Air drone. Still need to learn the ropes. And the capabilities of this nice drone. For one e.g. that while it can produce such nicely stitched panorama shots "out of drone" (the photo went through some lightroom retouchments nevertheless) it does so only in a very limited resolution.

While I was aware that I couldn't expect getting a big stitched RAW-File out of it - RAW simply doesn't work that way - I was pretty disappointed that the final Panoramas of the drone are even a tiny bit smaller in size than a normal single shot! That's clearly aimed at the "look at my selfie drone shot" social media snapper and not for photographers. Luckily you can select that the drone keeps the original single shots of the panoramas on the memory or SD card as well. A setting I will use from now on for all my next flights.

Februar-Felder und Sonnenuntergang in der Elfringhauser Schweiz, der Region zwischen der Wupper im Süden und der Ruhr im Norden.

Von meinem zweiten kurzen Test mit meiner neuen DJI Mavic Air Drohne. Ich muss mich noch mit allen möglichen Fähigkeiten und Feinheiten bekannt machen. Dazu gehören auch die wahren Fähigkeiten dieser Drohne. Z.B., dass sie zwar sehr überzeugende Panoramas fix und fertig "out-of-Drone" zusammenfügen kann (das Foto ist aber nichtsdestotrotz durch einige Lightroom-Anpassungen gegangen), dies aber nur in sehr begrenzter Auflösung.

Während ich erwartet hatte, dass ich natürlich keine großen, zusammengefügte Panorama-RAWs erhalten würde (so funktioniert die RAW-Technik einfach nicht), war ich doch ziemlich enttäuscht darüber, dass die fertigen Panoramas sogar einen Tick kleiner als Einzelfotos herauskommen! Das ist ganz klar auf die "Hey, schau auf mein Drone-Selfie" Social Media Poster gezielt und nicht für Fotografen gedacht. Glücklicherweise kann man die Drohne so einstellen, dass sie auch noch separat die Ursprungs-Einzelaufnahmen der Panoramas im Speicher oder auf der SD-Karte ablegt. Eine Einstellung, die ich von nun an immer nutzen werde.
