Bees snuggled into a flower of native Chaparral Mallow (Malacothamnus fasciculatus, Malvaceae)

            Here are two photos of bees snuggled into the same flower of native Chaparral Mallow (Malacothamnus fasciculatus) in the Malvaceae plant family.  The bee on the right is a common (all too common) Honey Bee (Apis mellifera, Hymenoptera).  The bee on the left is a more interesting native - probably Diadasia ochracea, in the tribe Emphorini.  These bees seem to specialize in mallow flowers, see the link in Bernard Jacobi's comment below.  (Paradise, Santa Ynez River, 29 June 2015)
