A real Thread-legged Bug (Emesinae, Reduviidae, Hemiptera) - maybe genus Empicoris?

A few days ago, JMDN corrected my mistaken ID of a Stilt Bug in the family Berytidae for a Thread-legged Bug (subfamily Emesinae) of the Assassin Bug (Reduviidae) family - both in the order Hemiptera. See my photo at www.flickr.com/photos/treebeard/6950814877.

I decided to go through my collection of Fotolog photos to look for real Thread-legged Bugs. I found a few!

Looking at BugGuide, I think this insect might be genus Empicoris. I found it I found it on a stem of native Wild Sweetpea (Lathyrus latifolius) in the Fabaceae plant family above the retaining wall on our driveway where the sun never shines in winter. If you look close, you can see its sucking proboscis folded under its head. It has a beautiful checkered pattern. (San Marcos Pass, 4 January 2012)

I got this photo at 1:1 magnification in the shade without flash, as close as I can get with my macro lens. The bug is about 633 pixels across on my 4288 pixel original photo, and my camera sensor is 23.6 mm wide. So the size of the insect is 23.6x633/4288 = 3.5 mm, about 1/8 inch. This critter is really tiny!
