À l'origine Gare-Hôtel Château-Viger.
Construction: 1897 / Bruce Price (1845-1903).
Style des Châteaux.
Façade avant (élévation Nord), donnant sur rue Saint-Antoine et l'ancien Square Viger.

La gare Viger était en quelque sorte la "Gare de l'Est" de Montréal puisqu'elle desservait Québec et la Gaspésie. Un hôtel de luxe logeait aux étages jusqu'en 1935. La gare demeura fonctionnelle jusqu'en 1951 pour être remplacée par des bureaux municipaux. Un sort incertain est réservé à ce remarquable bâtiment.

Le style des Châteaux, imaginé par l'architecte Bruce Price (1845-1903), émane essentiellement d'un croisement entre l'architecture des châteaux de la Loire en France et celle des manoirs écossais "Scottish Baronial", très populaire à Montréal où l'élite écossaise était alors à son apogée.
Le plus célèbre bâtiment exécuté dans ce style est sans contredit le "Château Frontenac" qui domine la ville de Québec, aussi conçu par Bruce Price en 1893.
