Lokomotion X4 E-661 @ Sankt Jodok am Brenner 🇦🇹

Naast kleurrijke loc combinaties kent de 'Brennerbahn' natuurlijk nog een ander fenomeen: de loctrein.

Locomotieven die gezwoegd hebben om cargo's de berg op te helpen duwen, worden vanuit Brenner weer samen richting Kufstein gebracht om daar te wachten op de volgende zware goederentrein die opgeduwd moet worden.

Jammer genoeg zullen deze treinen met de voltooiing van de Brenner Basistunnel (prognose 2028) op termijn verdwijnen. En over de Brenner Basistunnel gesproken: het witte containerdorp op de foto dient trouwens als huisvesting voor de talloze arbeiders die dag in dag uit aan de tunnel werken.

Ik was dan ook blij om zo een loctrein naast het containerdorp te kunnen fotograferen. Drie zebra 139'ers van Lokomotion werden geleid door de enige zwarte Vectron in zebra design van Lokomotion (MRCE X4 E-661 - een loc die ik ook al eens iets dichter bij huis kon fotograferen).

A phenomenon on the Brennerbahn are the 'locomotive trains': locomotives that have pushed trains up to Brennero are brought back to the valley in groups. In time, these trains will disappear when the Brenner base tunnel opens (forecast 2028). To the left of the train you also see a temporary container village for the workers of that base tunnel!
