SCM 4403 @ Balgerhoeke 🇧🇪 - a photo on Flickriver

Op zaterdagavond 16 november 2024 werd naar aanleiding van de aanstaande renovatie van een deel van de spoorwegbrug in Balgerhoeke in beperkte kring een fotoavond gehouden bij het SCM (StoomCentrum Maldegem). 

Voor de gelegenheid kwamen de 260.040 (oftewel 8040) met twee tremelwagens type Fcs en de motorwagen 4403 in actie. Beide treinen poseerden op de mooie hefbrug voor de groep fotografen.

De 4403, die deel uitmaakt van de motorwagenreeks 44 waarvan ooit 10 stuks gebouwd werden voor de NMBS als vervanging van de stoomtractie op de secundaire spoorlijnen, behoort nu - als één van de vijf bewaarde motorwagens van deze reeks in België - toe aan het SCM.
Terwijl het binnenschip 'Agnes' voor anker ligt en geniet van de weekendrust, is de motorwagen hier net na het spitsuur vanuit Maldegem met enkele late pendelaars onderweg in de richting van het station van Eeklo.

Een welgemeend woord van dank aan Maarten Schoubben voor de puike organisatie en aan het SCM om dit allemaal mogelijk te maken, is hier uiteraard op zijn plaats. Ook aan iedereen die op deze avond en vooraf, op welke manier dan ook, zijn steentje bijdroeg om er een geslaagde avond van te maken.

In response to the upcoming renovation of part of the railway bridge in Balgerhoeke, Belgium, I had, alongside a group of fellow photographers, the opportunity to participate in a photo event organized by Maarten Schoubben (many thanks for the invitation!) in cooperation with the SCM (StoomCentrum Maldegem).

Captured here is the 4403 from Stoomcentrum Maldegem crossing the bridge in all its glory while a barge enjoys the weekend rest.
