Week Sixteen: The Bridge - a photo on Flickriver

            The big news this week should have been the successful installation of the last of four Fulton plasma cores on the engine house block, and the arrival of the bridge fresh from the manufactory production room still mostly wrapped in plastic, but instead, all hell has broken loose.

Federation agents swarmed the shipyard just after shift change and arrested Fenton Stewart, the second shift site foreman and a dozen more from his crew, most of the ones who weren't already dead (like Jordi) or missing (witnesses.)  Turns out Fenton was running a scam by ordering and paying for top end materials with the company checkbook, and then stealing the invoices when they arrived, and replacing them with low quality low cost products from slave labor manufacturers that he supplied himself off the black market.

Jordi Millner was part of the original crew in on the scam, but when he saw just how low-grade the conduit and other materials they were installing in the spaceship really were, he got cold feet.  He argued individually with several of the conspirators that they would be responsible for the deaths of whatever crew trusted their lives in that ship, because it was a death-trap the way they were building it.  He was in for making a few easy bucks with no real victim, but when he realized lives were on the line, he backed out.  

Damon Givens pushed the spool of that very same sub-par cable that killed Jordi.  Fenton Stewart had him reassigned to another project off planet.  Same with anyone he thought might talk to the Feds.  It's a big company.  They're all being tracked down now.

Meanwhile, we have two thirds of a ship that has to be stripped of anything copper and re-wired, and the Federation agents are treating this place like a crime scene, which apparently, it is.
