Grass Jewel

This butterfly is Chilades trochylus (Freyer 1845), aka the grass jewel. It is the smallest butterfly in Europe; the ones found in dry localities, such as the one here, are much paler than those in areas with comparatively more rainfall. I captured this one last week in the suburbs of Nicosia, Cyprus. The plant on where the butterfly is posing is a Heliotropium sp.

For those interested, this is a stacked shot of 10 quick exposures, captured late in the afternoon with my Nikon D750 and Laowa (Venus) 60mm f/2.8 Ultra-Macro 2:1 lens.
