ÖBB 2016.021 + 003 Sprögnitz (3486)

            Eine Variation des Motivs ein paar Meter weiter und mit mehr Tele. VG 73145 wies am 28. Mai 2015 eine ordentliche Länge auf. Der von 2016.021 und 003 beförderte Zug ist rein auf den Transport von Holzprodukten ausgelegt. Mit den ersten Waggons wurde Holz als Rohmaterial zum Sägewerk Stora Enso bei Brand angeliefert. Sie gehen leer wieder zurück nach Tschechien. Die Schiebewandwagen sind mit Holzplatten beladen, die Sgns mit Innofreight-Containern mit Hackschnitzeln, welche in die Steiermark zu dort ansässigen Papierfabriken gehen.  

Some generell information for my english speaking friends: The picture was taken in the beautiful Waldviertel (wood quarter) in Lower Austria - right in the north of the country near the Czech boarder. In comparison with the 1970ies, railway traffic is almost gone there. Only at the track between Schwarzenau and Waldhausen you can still find freight trains hauled by diesel engines. A big saw mill near Waldhausen causes a lot of traffic on this branch line. Meanwhile you find only class 2016 engines hauling the trains, the class 2143 is gone. At the 28th of Mai 2015 i took this picture near Sproegnitz: ÖBB's 2016.021 and 003 are hauling the last freight train of the day - VG 73145 - from Waldhausen to Schwarzenau. Slowly the train snails through the wide fields and dark forests of this mystic region in the middle of nowhere....
