Eine Ära ging dieses Jahr bereits zu Ende: Dieselbespannten Fernverkehr auf der schwäbischen Südbahn wird es nicht mehr geben. Zwischen Ulm und Lindau verkehrt das Zugpaar IC 118 / 119 während der Elektrifizierungsarbeiten nun nicht mehr. Nach Abschluss der Maßnahme soll die Verbindung wieder aufleben, ob dann als ICE oder Railjet steht allerdings noch in den Sternen. An einem der letzten Verkehrstage fuhr ich nochmals nach Oberschwaben, um die Doppeltraktion Ulmer 218er vor den eleganten ÖBB Reisezugwagen zu dokumentieren. Bei Hervetsweiler fuhren mir 218 432 und 438 mit etwa einstündiger Verspätung vor die Linse. Interessantes Detail am Rande: An diesem Tage war der Mond bereits am Nachmittag gut erkennbar (17. Februar 2019).

An era has already come to an end this year: there will no longer be diesel-powered long-distance traffic on the so-called Swabian "Südbahn". Between Ulm and Lindau the train pair IC 118 / 119 will no longer run during the electrification work. After the completion of the work, the connection should revive, but whether as an ICE or Railjet is still in the stars. On one of the last traffic days I drove again to Upper Swabia to document the double traction of the class 218 engines in front of the elegant ÖBB passenger coaches. At Hervetsweiler 218 432 and 438 passed my photo-spot with about one hour delay. Interesting detail on the side: On this day the moon was already well recognizable in the afternoon (February 17th 2019).
