Bowerman's Nose [In Explore 7/7/18] - a photo on Flickriver

            Yesterday evening I drove up to Bowerman's Nose on Dartmoor. I've only ever been here once before and the sunset on that evening wasn't that great.

Last night the weather was a lot better, the sky had some nice high cloud and the conditions were perfect. Unfortunately, when all the gorgeous pinks lit up in the sky all the clouds were pushed out of my composition by the wind, so I've settled on an earlier shot from the evening when the sun was yet to drop below the horizon, giving some gorgeous light on the rock.

Bowerman's Nose is a stack of weathered granite It is situated on the northern slopes of Hayne Down, about a mile from Hound Tor and close to the village of Manaton. It is about 21.5 feet high and is the hard granite core of a former tor. It's one of the most accessible parts of Dartmoor, it's just a short drive from Haytor and an easy walk up the hill, so really popular with visitors to the park. The views are gorgeous here though and it's a perfect area to watch the sun go down.
