Cottonmouth aka water moccasin - a photo on Flickriver

            Just before dusk as I made the turn into a parking area there was a large well fed snake laying on the blacktop soaking up some heat. Keeping a safe distance I exited the vehicle and grabbed a shot to id what type of snake it was. The light was fading but there was no mistaking the zoro mask over the eyes and the hood above them. While changing the camera settings it began to move toward the grass, it wasn't in a hurry so I had enough time to fire off a few shots then got back in the jeep and watched it as it moved away.
