Glamour of OC - I-5 / CA-91 Interchange from Above

            A small part of the recently rebuilt interchange between the I-5 and CA-91 freeways in northwest Orange County (about 25 miles southeast of downtown LA),  A vast improvement over the prior configuration with longer merge lanes and car pool to car pool lane flyovers. Despite the complexity, it is not a complete interchange -- I-5 North to CA-91 East requires exiting, continuing across the intersection, and re-entering. The entrance for I-5 North is almost a mile away.

Traffic is still usually backed up in all directions at rush hour. Friday afternoon eastbound traffic on CA-91 is usually at a stand still from well before here to well into Riverside County -- this is the only road that goes there. I-5 is still undergoing a complete rebuild for the first 8 miles in LA County and will be a disaster until the work is complete in a "few years". The stretch just inside LA County is just getting underway -- about 4 years late.
