4th of July - Simulated Air Combat - Vapor Trails

            On July 4th, you’ll be able to see one stunning C-47 and two Marchetti SF-260s soar through the sky in celebration of independence day.

The C-47, recently christened “Willa Dean”, has had a long and successful service life since 1945!  “Willa Dean” carries the colors of the 440th Troop Carrier Group’s 97th Troop Carrier Squadron, complete with D-Day Invasion Stripes. 

The two Marchetti SF-260s you will see flying above you are both air combat ready fighters, from Air Combat USA, based at the Lyon Air Museum at Orange County’s SNA Airport. The SF-260s are fast, maneuverable, light on the controls and strong enough to pull six times the force of gravity! Their best feature is that they are also very easy to learn to fly and teach folks interested in learning what it was like to perform aerial dogfights in fighters in WWII.
