Noordwaard in de winter, Werkendam - a photo on Flickriver

            Part of the Noordwaardpolder in the Brabantse Biesbosch near Werkendam has been flooded due to the high water level in the adjacent Nieuwe Merwede river. It is winter and there is now a layer of ice on the water. The clumpy rush plants rise above the surface and in the foreground is a bare tree standing out against the blue sky.

Een deel van de Noordwaardpolder in de Brabantse Biesbosch bij Werkendam is ondergelopen vanwege de hoge waterstand in de aangrenzende Nieuwe Merwede rivier. Het is winter en er ligt nu een laag ijs op het water. De polvormige biezenplanten steken uit boven het oppervlak en op de voorgrond staat een kale boom die afsteekt tegen de blauwe hemel.
