Sé do Porto. The Graceful Light-Filled Covered Passageway.

            2021 Oct 24.  The covered passageway surrounding the courtyard is constructed of a series of gothic arches that intersect in Xs as they meet each other above.  Thanks to slim graceful colums supporting these arches on the courtyard side, together with additional open circles above them which let in even more light, the passageways are bright and airy.  On their sides opposite the courtyard, their walls are covered with azulejo tile murals--adding the impression of yet more light--with scenes of Mary's life and of Ovid's Metamorphoses.
