To Walk in Muir's Shoes - a photo on Flickriver

            I don't know who named this arch, as I cannot for the life of me see how it resembles a boot. Anyways, I had dropped my friend back off in LA as he had to work and checked the forecast, which called for storms again in Lone Pine. Without hesitation, I hopped back in the car and drove back out to the Eastern Sierras, with the goal of photographing one of the many arches of Alabama Hills. What a difference two days made, as I had the entire place to myself. What an incredible and humbling experience to be the only human, listening to the desert wind and birds, and to be dwarfed by the giant boulders of the hills and the majestic Eastern Sierras in the background. I can only imagine how John Muir would of felt as he explored these amazing places so many years ago.
