            August is hay month, and for the long-beaked among us, that means a month of culinary delicacies, something like eating chicken mcnuggets for free at McDonalds for a month. 

Storks then walk through a meadow with long legs, sucking left and right in a way that makes Nilfisk the Northman pale into a sputtering table vacuum cleaner.

Herons also remain true to their hunting style, pretending to be at the water's edge. They stand still and wait for the moment when they can strike. You have to have a lot of patience because it can sometimes take up to 30 minutes before something happens, and having to pay close attention to the right moment with a heavy camera can sometimes result in muscle pain.

This photo is from a series of approximately 50 shots. At first this heron stood with a huge pile of grass in its mouth, and only after some shaking out did it become clear that a mouse was hidden in that pile, which was slowly but surely shaken out. In this shot, the mouse is thrown into the air and then eaten with its head pointed in the right direction. Sad of course, but without all those predators the mouse population would quickly explode.
