1932 Wetteroth/Miller

This Miller powered car had an exceptional long career, having been built in 1932 by Louis Wetteroth and still qualifying as late as 1947. Originally the property of retired driver Harry Hartz, it has been driven in 1932 by wealthy sportsman Cliff Durant, but when Durant changed his mind, 1931 runner up Fred Frame took over as his replacement. Starting all the way back in 27th, Frame was forced by overheating problems to make the then unusually high number of 6 pit stops. Sheer speed carried him to the front and he was never headed after lap 152. Frame led further laps in it in 1933, after which Ted Horn finished second, third and fourth between 1936 and 1938. Veteran Tony Bettenhausen drove this car as a rookie in 1946.
