Italica - Roman Theatre in the Vetus Urbs

            This Roman theatre in Italica is not located with the other ruins (e.g., the amphitheatre).  Rather it can be found a mile or so away in the present village of Santiponce.  It is still used on occasion, even in its delicate state.

Much of the Vetus Urbs (old city) of Italica lies beneath present day Santiponce.  All of the previous photos, including the amphitheatre, were taken in the section of Italica known as Nova Urbs (new city), built by Hadrian as an extension of the Vetus Urbs.
