            When the eastern phoebes returned last week it was still quite cold and there were very few flying bugs for them to eat. The weather situation has since changed for the better, much to the delight of this eastern phoebe  that is sitting on a branch above Bohemian Creek, a local trout stream. There's a limestone cliff close by that is perfect for phoebes to put their nest on a narrow ledge. The trout stream provides abundant mayflies, caddisflies and midges to feed their hungry babies when they hatch out later in the spring.
