Total Solar Eclipse - a photo on Flickriver

            From this photographers point-of-view, this Total Solar Eclipse was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. I made a decision before I approached the day to take My photos, but to not miss the event. I made sure to witness as much as I could. I was fortunate to meet two like-minded people , who had a telescope and other tools to take in the event. They really were great company and I was lucky to have set up next to them. I learned an important lesson; Quite often in taking photos, We photographers actually miss a lot of what goes on around Us, as Our eyes and attention are concentrated on the scene through the camera lens.It can be said that sometimes We can be too absorbed to see everything. I managed to tear Myself away from the camera , long enough to do just that.

As the Moon slowly began to track across the face of the Sun I was able to watch both through my special eclipse glasses as well as on an App that My neighbor  eclipse watchers were using. I could soon notice subtle changes in the light. 

When Totality was reached the sky darkened to a lovely twilight blue, with a red 'sunset' horizon all around. Totality lasted just over 3 minuets , first darkening and then the daylight gradually increasing. As the light dimmed, the stars came out very briefly and then faded as light returned to the sky.

During the moments of total eclipse, the light created a rippling effect on the ground around Me.

As quick as it started, the beautiful moment was over and the Moon passed over the face of the Sun completely. I will have that incredible moment forever etched on My memory.
