15th February 2015. Ex LMSR Stanier Black 5s Nos. 44871 and 45407 at Penistone, South Yorkshire pulling The Tin Bath.

            The Tin Bath Steam Special pulls away from Penistone towards Huddersfield at 14.40 on Sunday 15th February 2015. The weather had been very cloudy, almost foggy all day, and shafts of sunlight were occasionally breaking through the mists hanging over the Pennines. The train was scheduled to stop for four minutes in Penistone, but in reality it just paused for breath, and then set off again. The Fives were working hard, and it was nice to see that they didn't have a back up diesel. A wonderful sight. I've spent many hours riding the rails on steam trains in the last few years, but interestingly, I still get a bigger kick from watching them work hard from a nearby fence or a wall top. I guess that takes me back to my childhood, watching these engines work the lines of South Yorkshire. I wish I'd had a digital camera then!!!!
