The Race Of The Night - a photo on Flickriver

            IC6250 is finally able to go full send as it clears Champaign, a gaggle of chasers racing on Route 45 beside the tracks, but the real race isn’t us and the train. It’s the train and the clouds. A storm is sweeping across the sky and has already blocked the sun in an earlier shot, but a few miles farther south and the train pulls ahead of the clouds for a little while. The clouds would win the race at the end of the night, but for a time, the SD40-2 was the victor - and that’s all that matters.
