San Francisco Sunset - a photo on Flickriver

            The vessel on the left is one of the Algol class which are the fastest cargo ships in the world, capable of 33 knots. They were built as container ships for Sealand in the early 1970's just in time for the first energy crisis.  Sealand chose to build high speed ships in order to reduce the number of ships needed to maintain regular schedules.  With the sudden increase in fuel cost they were no longer economically viable so eventually the US Navy obtained and converted them to the present configuration.
