Tierpark Berlin: Buddy-Bären säumen die Schloßallee - "Buddy Bears" are lining Palace Avenue

            Der Bär ist das Wappentier Berlins. Aus diesem Grund wurden Anfang der 2000-er Jahre Künstler eingeladen, Bärenfiguren, die ihnen als Rohlinge zur Verfügung gestellt wurden, zu bemalen. Diese Figuren wurden Buddy Bears genannt.Unter dem Motto "The Art of Tolerance" werben die UNITED BUDDY BEARS nun auf ihrer Welttournee für ein friedliches Zusammenleben. Die rund 140 Buddy Bären (jeder 2 m groß) repräsentieren ebenso viele Mitglieder der Vereinten Nationen.
Seit ihrer ersten Ausstellung 2002 in Berlin haben weltweit bereits über 40 Millionen Besucher die Bären bewundern können. Jeder Buddy Bär wurde individuell von einem Künstler des jeweiligen Landes gestaltet. So ist ein einzigartiges Gesamtkunstwerk entstanden. Die Buddy Bären stehen „Hand in Hand“ zusammen und symbolisieren die Vision einer zukünftig friedlichen Welt. Dabei steht jeder Bär für die Menschen der Länder und deren Kultur, jedoch nicht für politische Systeme. Seit dem 2. Juli 2002 sind sie zeitweilig im Tierpark Berlin ausgestellt.

The bear is the heraldic animal of Berlin. For this reason, in the early 2000s, artists were invited to paint bear figures that were provided to them as blanks. These figures were called Buddy Bears. Under the motto "The Art of Tolerance", the UNITED BUDDY BEARS are now promoting peaceful coexistence on their world tour. The approximately 140 Buddy Bears (each 2 m tall) represent as many members of the United Nations.
Since their first exhibition in Berlin in 2002, more than 40 million visitors worldwide have already been able to admire the bears. Each Buddy Bear was individually designed by an artist of the respective country. The result is a unique work of art. The Buddy Bears stand together "hand in hand" and symbolise the vision of a peaceful world in the future. Each bear stands for the people of the countries and their culture, but not for political systems. Since 2 July 2002, they have been on temporary display at the Tierpark Berlin.
