            College Lake on a frozen January day.

Halfway between sunrise and sunset….. 
Early afternoon sun on ice at College Lake. A couple of hours catch up with my friend Ken, watching birds and setting the world to rights. Had a major put down by one of the wardens when I told them we’d seen some Goldeneye - I’d have thought they might be interested, but only in making the point that they’d seen more than we had earlier in the day. Why does everyone have to be so competitive nowadays? Enjoying nature shouldn’t be about one upmanship….. 
I may have only seen 2 Goldeneye but at least I enjoyed my shortcomings 🤔. I bet that guy spent all day worrying that someone would come in who’d seen more than him!
