A Furphy! Furphy Farm Water Cart at Olivewood Estate Homestead Museum, Renmark, South Australian Riverland

            Furphy’s Farm Water Cart manufactured by J Furphy & Sons, Shepparton, Victoria.

Furphy’s also made spike rollers, swingle trees, plough wheels, iron castings, land graders, steel delvers, cast iron pig, chain yokes.

Located at Olivewood Estate Homestead Museum, Renmark, South Australia.

The Historic Olivewood Estate homestead and Museum, at Renmark, was the original home of Canadian born Charles Chaffey. Charles with his brothers George and William established the Renmark and Mildura Irrigation Colonies. 

The homestead is State Heritage listed and was built from Murray pine logs. There is an orange orchard, and an operating olive grove with approximately 90 trees that were planted in 1890. A replica of the olive crusher can be seen.

Since the National Trust took over management of the building in 1979, volunteers have worked to attract visitors and keep the property viable.
Alongside the homestead, a barn is filled with machines donated from local citrus farms such as a 1910 stemmer and grader.
Next to the barn is a reproduction olive crushing mill and oil house, again full of donated items.
