Plaque proclaiming the Cathedral Church for the Diocese of Willochra on Feast of St Peter & St Paul. Port Pirie South Australia

            This church houses a baptismal font from the Farina All Saints Anglican Church (now demolished) that opened 1890 and sold in 1967. 
The font was sent to All Saints Anglican at Carrieton: when that church closed the font was relocated to Port Pirie where it is presently in the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul. 
The Font is marked “In Memory of Michael Christopher Morris”.

This Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul was proclaimed The Cathedral Church for the Diocese of Willochra on the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul 29 June 1999 by David, Fifth Bishop of Willochra in the Centenary year of its Consecration.

The cathedral building was built in 1899 as a parish church: St Paul’s Anglican Church with the foundation stone being laid 17 August 1899. It replaced an early wooden church built in 1876.

The church is state heritage listed and the architect was William K Mallyon (he was also the manager of the National Bank at Port Pirie). The church was incomplete as there was an iron wall at the rear.
