Starling - a photo on Flickriver

Starling

            Vulgar, common, bossy  and quarrelsome but in my eyes it has to be one of our most beautiful birds with a song to match, full of liquid notes and whistles interspersed with some wonderful mimicry. This bird at the coastal town of Amble was doing a wonderful impersonation of Herring Gull, Curlew and what I'd like to think was a cheerful whistle of a local fisherman!
