Ruelle Croix des Pêcheurs, Terre-Sainte

            La Croix des pêcheurs est située dans une ruelle de la rue Auguste-Langlois (ainsi baptisée vers 1960 du nom d'un des premiers pêcheurs du coin), anciennement nommée rue des Pêcheurs (1840) puis rue de la Croix (1860, date de son édification en béton). En 1953, a lieu une grande éruption volcanique. Pour conjurer les feux de La Fournaise, la population de Terre-Sainte implore Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Port et lui construit un oratoire couvert à côté de la croix. Depuis, l'une veille, l'autre guide. 

The Fishermen's Cross is located in an alley off Rue Auguste-Langlois (named around 1960 after one of the first fishermen in the area), formerly called Rue des Pêcheurs (1840) and then Rue de la Croix (1860, the date of its concrete construction). In 1953, a major volcanic eruption took place. To ward off the fires of La Fournaise, the people of Terre-Sainte implored Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Port and built a covered oratory next to the cross. Since then, one has watched over it, the other guides it.
