Guanabara Bay (Explore 30/08/16 #182)

Yes, I know this is a ridiculously long narrow panorama but I wanted to show Rio is just more than Copacabana Beach, Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer. Guanabara Bay is an oceanic bay in the state of Rio de Janeiro. On its western shore lies the city of Rio de Janeiro and Duque de Caxias (top of image), and on its eastern shore the cities of Niterói and São Gonçalo (bottom of image).

This 7 frame panorama (8 actually but the last one wouldn't stitch) is taken from a hand-glider's launch ramp in the Parque da Cidade behind São Francisco and Charitas - 2 of the 48 neighbourhoods that make up the city of Niterói.

Providing you can view this at 100% I'll point out some of the landmarks in the view.
Starting at the back left along the distant shoreline and viewing clockwise...

1)   Beach front hotels on Copacabana Beach - white buildings extreme left.
2)   Sugarloaf Mountain - the most prominent forward rock after Copacabana.
3)   Christ the Redeemer - directly right of sugarloaf with the peak in the clouds.
4)   Flamengo and beach - partly hidden by the foreground rock formation and fishing village of Jurujuba.
5)   Santos Dumont Airport (regional) - right of foreground rock formation and centre of image.
6)   Docklands area - tankers can be seen just to the left of the bridge.
7)   Rio-Niterói Bridge (opened 4th Mar 1974, length 13.29km, highest point 72m - its long!
8)   Tankers - moored in the bay beyond the bridge and to extreme right of image.

Continuing along the foreground this time from right to left...
9)   City of Niterói and beach area of Icaraí.
10) Museum of Contemporary Art (Oscar Niemeyer) - circular building just before the island at the end of the peninsular. 
11) Clube Naval Charitas (Yacht Club) - extreme left of image.
12) Jurujuba (fishing village) - identifiable by the fish pens in the secluded bay.
