Lothian 318 outside Central Garage, Edinburgh.

            318 was captured from Annandale Street while passing Central Garage today. The building dates from 1922 when it was built as the Industrial Hall for exhibitions and events etc., that were outgrowing Waverley Market. This venture does not seem to have been successful and the red brick faced building was acquired by Edinburgh Corporation in 1926 to garage motor buses and originally, other Corporation motor vehicles. The municipal transport operation, Edinburgh Corporation Tramways, had been founded on 1st July 1919 (absorbing Leith Corporation Tramways on 10 November 1920) and was soon developing bus services (Corporation Motors) with vehicles housed at Shrubhill or Henderson Row before the Industrial Hall was purchased.
