Elefantenbaum

Blick auf den als "Elefantenbaum" bezeichnete Hängebuche im Neuen Garten in Potsdam. Der Park wurde ab 1787 unter König Friedrich Wilhelm II. als Gegenstück zum barocken Park Sanssouci angelegt. Der "Elefantenbaum" ist aber deutlich jünger, er wurde wohl erst nach 1945 gepflanzt. Der Neue Garten ist Bestandteil des UNESCO Welterbes "Schlösser und Parks von Potsdam und Berlin".

View of the “Elephant Tree” hanging beech in the New Garden in Potsdam. The park was laid out from 1787 under King Friedrich Wilhelm II as a counterpart to the Baroque Sanssouci Park. However, the “Elephant Tree” is much younger; it was probably planted after 1945. The New Garden is part of the UNESCO World Heritage “Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin.”
