Light my fire

            I am looking into the raging heart of one of our fall bonfires.  It's a wild affair that is consuming the clean and burnable portions of our erstwhile home of twenty years, an ancient modular that we no longer need or want -- and that no one else wanted either.

It's a strange feeling, and a bit surreal, to dismantle our first real home and see the bits that can't be recycled being fed to the fire.  Even though we've built a comfortable house that is warm and dry and cosy, there is some melancholy in seeing this building, that holds so many memories, slowly curling in the flames and turning to ash.

That being said, I have to admit I relished the colours and textures of the partially burned panels and enjoyed the heat of the fire on a chilly November evening.
