            Column 1:
a.  Burnie (Tas.): Emu Bay Railway Mon.6.1.69 timetable.  Despite not being taken for a future internet world, it is partly legible.
b.  Herrick - Launceston TGR steam-hauled mixed.  13.3.70.  (Roderick Smith).  From memory, this was a specially-arranged event for photographers, in conjunction with a major steam event.  Into this era, I doubt that that any was advertised a mixed, but most freights had carvans, and passengers offering were allowed to travel.  I rode one from Burnie to Devonport in 1971, but all the photos were taken out of the window, showing the coastal running, and not showing the carvan.
c & 2c&d.  Three aspects of an EBR Rosebury - Guildford - Burnie mixed.  Fri.71.72.  (Roderick Smith).  EBR served an area with no roads, and ran mixed trains and lots of railmotors.  By 1960, a road existed south of Rosebery; the mixed trains were withdrawn.  However, to boost tourism, a mixed train was introduced ~1960: Burnie - Rosebery return, with most passengers and the motorail joining at Guildford.  It lasted until the road was complete, around the end of 1963 [see a later post in the thread].  The Rosebery mixed survived, but I can't guess why.  The carriage was now one third guard accommodation.  The train ran perhaps three times per week, and did all the local work (and there wasn't much of that).  The other trains were impressive quadheaded ore freights.  It did provide an opportunity to see the rugged terrain, and the impressive Pieman River bridge.

Column 2:
a.  North of Rhyndaston (Tas.): Freight, 3xY hauling 13 wagons of logs and ten empty coal wagons.  17.48, Mon.2.9.85.  (Roderick Smith)  After skiing, we photographed Parattah Hotel (built as Midland Railway Hotel), then this lucky shot in failing light.  I guess that dinner was at Brighton or Bridgewater.  We camped out for the night at National Park.
b.  Blumont (Tas.): Freight towards Scottscale shunting, 866-858.  Mon.2.9.85.  (Roderick Smith).  On Sunday, I suspect that we dined in Devonport, then continued to Lilydale to camp out.  Next morning, this freight went by.  We caught up to it at Lebrina, and saw it at Denison Gorge (7.05); Blumont (shunting), Scottsdale and Tonganah (9.05).  We then left it to head to Ben Lomond to ski. This has to be Blumont.

Column 3:
a.
b.
c&d  Bridgewater (Tas.).  1970 & 1985.  (Roderick Smith).  Bridgewater was the junction of the Derwent Valley line and the main line to Launceston.  It and the DV line are now closed; the main line is cut at Brighton, north of Bridgewater.  That saved replacing the bridge to be rail and ferry suitable.
